The pandemic brought significant uncertainty and fear, and those years of isolation took an especially heavy toll on our elderly neighbors. Through bingo events, senior-palooza celebrations, dances, and other social activities, Meals on Wheels Chicago is encouraging seniors to reconnect with their communities. These events also offer corporate sponsorship opportunities, such as providing wellness-themed Raffle Prizes for seniors.

Putting 23 years of experience to good use, Chicago Chef Cory Morris partners with corporations and Meals on Wheels Chicago supporters to host cooking demonstrations at local senior centers. Each interactive demonstration educates seniors on how to prepare delicious and nutritious meals. Chef Morris offers food safety tips and healthy eating habits for healthy living.

Meals on Wheels Chicago invites our corporate partners to provide wellness items and other home essentials so our seniors can use their limited income for food and medicine. Laundry supplies, dental hygiene items, and cleaning products further the health of our seniors. Every wellness pack will go to a senior visiting the Nourish Chicago Pantry.

Meals on Wheels Chicago hosts a food pantry at a local senior center once a month. Organize inventory, set-up and break-down, and help seniors carry their items.

Meals on Wheels Chicago often sets up a table and tent at community events and local farmer’s markets, spreading the word about the Home Meal Delivery program. Volunteer to table for a few hours! We will make sure you have the information you need to answer questions and have a good time!

Meals on Wheels Chicago hosts the Nourish Chicago Pantry at a local senior center, the Central West Senior Center at 2102 W. Ogden Ave., the fourth Tuesday of every month from 1pm to 3pm. Bring your team together to provide nutritious items and promote wellness in the community. Your team members can take on different roles, including organizing inventory, set-up and break-down, handing out food, and helping seniors carry grocery bags.

84% of our senior clients report that their Meals on Wheels delivery driver is the only person they see all week. These levels of isolation can be deadly. Remind seniors they are loved and valued with hand-written, thoughtfully created notes.

Does your company organize volunteer opportunities? We need your help at the City’s Senior Centers! Volunteer with your coworkers to organize a game of bingo and serve lunch.

Coordinate a collection of items to support the health and wellness of seniors (a list of suggestions would be provided), and put together individual Wellness Packs for seniors together as a team. Wellness Packs are then distributed to seniors in need throughout Chicago.
