Celebrity Chef Ball Delivers 184,700 Meals for Seniors
On Friday October 20th 2023, The Geraghty played host to The Celebrity Chef Ball, a star-studded event that brought together over 60 top chefs and mixologists, including distinguished Michelin, James Beard, and Bib Gourmand award winners. The culinary gala, held on October 20, aimed to support homebound seniors grappling with food insecurity. The event was a resounding success, setting a record for fundraising and contributing to Meals on Wheels Chicago's ongoing mission to eradicate hunger and isolation among seniors and individuals with disabilities.
The Celebrity Chef Ball, MoWC's signature soiree, offered a unique and extravagant dining experience for over 400 guests. Every table was transformed into a chef's table. The intimate fine dining event saw guests seated in "pods" of three tables, each with its team of chefs and a mixologist. Exclusive chef teams collaborated to personally prepare and present a stunning 6-course meal right in front of the delighted guests.
This year's event boasted a stellar lineup of both long-time supporters and new faces, each contributing their culinary expertise to The Celebrity Chef Ball for the first time. Participating chefs for 2023 included luminaries such as Stephen Gillanders of S.K.Y., Todd Stein of Ballyhoo Hospitality, Brian Jupiter of Frontier, and many more.
The Celebrity Chef Ball not only tantalized taste buds but also underscored the power of gastronomy to make a positive impact. With the resounding success of this year's event, Meals on Wheels Chicago is thrilled to announce that it was a record year, raising enough money to fund 184,700 meals through their home-delivered meal program and Nourish Chicago Pantry. These funds will play a crucial role in sustaining the organization's commitment to nourishing Chicago's vulnerable populations.
